Here’s a good tip on lodging in the “Big Apple”: Absolutely THROW all your pre-conceived notions about what a hotel room should cost you OUT the window. New York is a crowded city, and the entire world goes there for business, shopping, theater, art, and vacation. You might think that with all the competition between hundreds of hotels there would be a cheap New York City hotel or two, but the fact is that the market will bear the high prices…starting typically at no less than $150.00 for a room with private bath. Lower prices can be found, but plan on sharing bath facilities with other guests. Think of these as “old school” hotels, but at least they are closer to “affordable” for most travelers.
