I have really learned a lot in the last few days, more out of necessity than curiosity.  My computer was running incredibly slow and it was making me crazy.  I started looking for solutions and discovered that my problems likely stemmed from common registry errors that are a result of programs being installed and then not removed completely.  While it is really impossible to prevent this from happening it is easy to fix the damage.  By running one of the registry repair programs that are widely available the operating system can be quickly scanned and the offending files can be deleted.  Everything will soon be back to normal
