It can be difficult when you are all alone in trying to pay the bills, get your children to the doctor without taking time off of work, etc. to focus on the positive effects of single parenting, but there are some good things that can come out of it. Outside of getting out of a bad relationship, (which staying in would have created a bad role model for your children), you are now in a situation where you can spend more time with your children without your spouse. What’s more, if you have shared custody your spouse gets one on one time with your children as well which can provide a closer relationship than they had before.
