Almost 100% of pregnant women are bound to have stretch marks as their bodies experience a lot of growth during the 9 month period. The marks may not appear until the late stages of the pregnancy. They are usually bright red in colour especially on the abdomen and are also visible on thighs, hips, arms and buttocks. After giving birth, pregnancy stretch marks fade into silver marks but still very visible on the skin. It is not possible to entirely prevent stretch marks during pregnancy as the skin will obviously stretch as the baby grows bigger. You can nonetheless control the severity of the marks in a couple of ways.Applying cocoa butter on areas prone to pregnancy stretch marks will increase the elasticity of your skin and control the gravity of the marks. This should be done as early as possible even before the marks start to appear. Massage these areas gently during application, which should be done daily as well as each time you take a birth. A healthy diet will also go along way in ensuring that you do not gain excessive weight thus preventing stretch marks.
