Commentary On “William McGurn: Down But Not Out in Catholic Suburbia”
Education is a public good – ideally – as it helps create a more civil society. Now, when you have liberal teachers who couldn’t last a day in a real job indoctrinating children into socialism, I agree, my tax dollars shouldn’t go to teaching and education children things that I don’t believe. On the other hand, if a school does provide a good basic education and clearly states that it also teaches whatever in addition to that, I’m fine with my tax dollars going to such a school in so far as it produces well educated students, even if I don’t agree with or personally believe whatever else it may teach. I think the threat of taking money out of the public school system would be the best way to get such systems to actually become competitive.
